One of the primary reasons that we move out from our rented space is the noise. It is quite a stressor. Understanding how sound travels can help you find the right solution to block off noise. Sound is a vibration radiated by the pressure of waves. It goes on until it dissipates or is blocked, absorbed, dampened or isolated. Blocking it requires high density materials to act as barriers. Insulation materials can absorb the sound that bounces around. To dampen it you can use a chemical paste or strips that could transform the energy of sound into heat. Isolating it could be done by using nonconductive materials, in wall clips or pads.
